Texas school teacher Heather Lynn Miller is to face felony charges after been allegedly found engaging in sexual relations with a male student.
Miller, 46 was arrested on sunday, after been caught by a campus security guard during a routine patrol at katy Junior High.
According to a statement by Katy Independent School District, miller is accused of “engaging in an inappropriate relationship” with a male student.
Local media outfit, KPRC reports that on the day of the incident, Miller answered the door to the portable classroom and told the campus securityguard that “everything was fine.” the Suspicious guard, unconvinced, looked past the teacher and saw a 14-year-old male student hurriedly getting dressed.
Police aren’t willing to discuss details of the case. Miller, who was a social studies teacher at the school, has now been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
“Providing a safe and secure learning environment is and will continue to be our top priority, and we will always act swiftly when that is compromised,” read a statement by district officials.
Miller has been charged with improper relationship with a student,by the police.Bond was st at $50,000, which she has already posted and was released Monday.
Parents around the community were shocked when they learnt of the allegations. “You tend to see too much of these things nawadays,” said a parent, who declined identification to, told Fox Houston. “I suspect it’s always happened, they just more efficient at catching them now than they used to.”
